The safety, welfare and wellbeing of children and young people are central to our work.

Our commitment

As an independent educational psychology practice, we work with children, young people, families and schools. We are committed to:

• Promoting the welfare of children and young people

• Creating professional relationships in which children and young people feel safe, respected and listened to

• Following relevant legislation, statutory guidance and professional standards relating to safeguarding and child protection

• Taking appropriate action if we have concerns about a child or young person’s safety

Confidentiality and its limits

Information shared with us is treated confidentially. However, confidentiality cannot be guaranteed where information needs to be shared to protect a child or young person from harm, or where we are required by law to disclose information.

Where a child or young person shares information that raises a safeguarding concern, we will listen carefully, respond sensitively and take appropriate action. We will explain this, wherever possible and appropriate, to the child, young person or family.

How concerns are handled

If we become aware of a safeguarding concern, we will:

• Record relevant information carefully and securely

• Share information with the appropriate agencies (for example children’s social care or the police) where required

• Work with schools and other professionals as appropriate

• Seek advice where needed to ensure a safe response

Enhanced DBS and professional standards

Dr Rosanne (Rose) Cobb is an HCPC-registered Educational Psychologist (PYL048535), holds an enhanced DBS check for this work, and maintains professional indemnity insurance.
